"As a young boy Perry had a broken hip due to a farm accident. The bonewas set immediately while the mucsles were still in shock which left theleg out of line and shorter than the other leg. Despite this handicap,Perry worked along with his father and brothers, and later farmed forhimself in Amanda Township. He played the parlor organ, and used to playfor Sunday school and church. Florence was always an efficient worker.She helped support her family by sewing for others. Also, she nursed andcomforted many persons and their families. She always had beautifulflowers and kept her freezer well stocked. Perry and Florence are buriedin the Amanda Township Cemetery."

Perry Borchers, 85 of Amanda died today at 4:30 a. m. in his homefollowing a long illness.
Mr. Borchers was a farmer and former glass worker, member of St.Peter's Lutheran Church, Amanda and a 50 year member of Amanda Chapter509 F&AM.
He leaves his wife, Florence; son, W. H. Borchers, Lancaster; 2daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Offensend, Harmonsburg, Pa., Mrs. DorothyMcKittrick, Lancaster; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; severalnieces and nephews.
