"Kate was the mainstay of the family, and as her parent's health becamemore feeble, she assumed greater responsibilities in the home. After herparents died in 1919, she cared for her younger sister, Clara, whosuffered with epilepsy. After her divorce in 1929, Kate shared her homewith her brothers, Charles and Philip, and Philip's daughter Helen. Katecould always be counted on to be where she was needed. She was an activeworker in the Lutheran church, Sunday school, and Luther League. She wasa charter member of the local chapter of Eastern Star during which sheserved as Chaplain most of the time. Baptized on November 12, 1871, Katedied as a result of burns sustained in her home in Amanda, Ohio."
