Hi Ed, yes, the hotel seems to be very nice and really close to most of the sights. As there will be not more than a 5-minute-walk from the station to your hotel I'll come by train and go home onFriday evening. Thanks for your kind offer to pay for a hotel hotel. But it won't be necessary to stay in Cologne overnight. I won't need my car there at all, so I'll come by train. After going through the customs at Düsseldorf Airport you'll find yourself in the basement. Just opposite the gate you'll come through after collecting your baggage there all the big carrentals: Hertz, Europcar, Sixt, Avis. I guess you chose one of them. Others have a meeting point for their customers and pick them up there. Now that you are west of Cologne cathedral do not take the A3 (east of the river Rhein as I suggested for the other hotel) but the A 44 (west of the river) and then the A 57 that ends in the center of Cologne. From there it's about 5-10 minutes to your hotel. As I assume you chose one of the big four you will pick up your car and leave one of the multi-storey car parks. Please follow the sign "Alle Richtungen - All directions". After only a fewmeters look for the motorway A 44 direction Köln, Neuss, Krefeld, NL (Netherlands). There you turn right and enter the airport tunnel. After the first airport beware of the speed traps (green) on the right. You follow the A 44 driving through two more tunnels and will then change direction taking the A 57 direction Cologne. I don't know which motorway the GPS will choose when you are at the Airport. That is why I gave you some details. There will be traffic jams on any of the routes at that time of the day. At Cologne you will find that the Stolkgasse where your hotel is situated is a one-way street. You turn left either one street before (Tunisstrasse) or one after Stolkgasse (Postprivatstrasse). Normally check-in-time at your hotel is 3 pm. The hotel is booked up the days before. But I was told as you have booked first class you have priority. Furthermore the gentleman at the reception desk took a note so that your two rooms will be finished as soon as possible. If, however, you would like to have breakfast at my home, I'd love to have you here and show you what a typical German breakfast is like. From the A 57 that you will take it is a detour of only about 15 minutes to my place. I'd really be happy to have you here, but would understand if you prefer driving through to your hotel.ñ The weather forcast is not good from Thursday till Saturday, unfortunately there will be a few showers but it won't be cold. Anyway, I keep my fingers crossed that it will be better than predicted today. If you have any questions whatsoever, please let me know. I'll be at your hotel at about 7.30 on Friday. Now that I know the way to Dhünn I think we should leave at about 7.50/8.00. And please tell me if you see a chance to drop in for breakfast on Thursday morning. Gaby
