From "The Genealogy of the Duflot Family 1856-1956 by Joseph LeoDuflot":
"Marie Anna Duflot was born Feb. 18, 1885 in Paducah, KY. Her education was limited to the grade school. She married Richard C. Chote Dec. 2, 1908.
On December 30, 1925, Marie married Bun Williams, a machinery salesman. Their home was located at 2223 Locust St., Texarkana, Arkansas at the time of their deaths. Bun died Nov. 19, 1949. Marie died of ananeurysm Oct. 27, 1952. She and her husbands were buried in State Line Cemetery, Texarkana.
Marie was a woman of tremendous drive, determination andresourcefulness. While her life was not unusual in its being marked byworries and adversities, common to the human lot, nevertheless she metthese crises with unusual energy, initiative and fortitude. After Dick'sdeath, she worked two years as a receptionist in a doctor's office.Since the home which she and Dick owned was in the clear, she managedthrough these years to provide for herself and child.
When her second husband's health began to break, and before hebecame bedfast in the grip of a deep anxiety neurosis with all of itsattention demanding physiological symptoms, she would drive the car onbusiness trips for him fighting hardto keep up his morale and restorehis flagging self-confidence. For a time she felt she was succeeding. But when the final relapse into a prolonged emotional illness came sheassumed with courage the full responsibility of managing the familyaffairs.
Before his illness, he had already converted the garage into twosmall apartments. Hence, their only income during the five years of hisinvalidism was from social security and the apartments. She sold thefarm which Bun owned as an investment and paid off the mortgage on theirtown home and all other outstanding debts, and settled down to care forher hopelessly incurable husband which she sensed from the beginning. The medical bills were high, yet she managed out of this meager income toprovide for the necessities of the home and for the services of apractical nurse during the last years of his affliction.
After Bun's death, she made several extended automobile trips, livedcomfortably, and considering her limited means, she enjoyed social lifealmost up to the hour of her sudden death. According to Guy Florence,"She left her a lovely homeand a good nest egg to her one and onlychick."
Marie's daughter, Guy Florence, told me that she understood hermother was the last Duflot child to be baptized in the Catholic Church.Marie is buried in State Line Cemetery, Texarkana, AR.
From cousin Norma Sorsby Belonie 1995: After Uncle Dick died, AuntMarie later married Bun Williams. He was a timber man; but came in oneday, went to bed and stayed until he died. Aunt Marie waited on him andthis eventually caused herdeath."
