> "Miscellanious Works of Edward Gibbons" House of Brunswick p.665
> "The duties of the widow of Peter Candianus were to revenge an husband and to educate a daughter of the same name as her own. The daughter Valdrada became the wife of Albert Azzo I and it is apparent from the date of birth of their eldest son,Albert Azzo II,that these nuptials wereconsummated in the lifetime and approved by the consent of a wealthy childless uncle(Hugo of Tuscany?)who could only hope to live in the posterity of his niece"
> What seems to be the opinion of the genealogy community on the above?
This was an erroneous conjecture by Muratori that was rejected long ago:
the wife of Alberto Azzo I and mother of his only (not "eldest") son
Alberto Azzo II was named Adela. Her father was named Otberto, but apart
from that his identity is uncertain.
