Allen D. Settje (1932) passed away on December 26th with his wife of 48 years, Mary, by his side. He was 85. Born on a farm in Creston, Nebraska, he became an agent with American Family Insurance at a young age, until he was promoted toDistrict Manager in 1981 and moved to Colorado. He continued in that capacity until he retired in 1999 after 44 of years with the same company. He focused his career on serving people and giving thema product he truly believed helped them. In retirement, he spent much of his time volunteering for Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church, where he and Mary were founding members of the congregation. In addition to serving on the Church Council and various committees, Allen most notably chaired the committee that spear-headed the building of the church that now stands at 2000 Ptarmigan Trail in Estes Park. His hobbies included hunting, watching sports, construction projects, travel, and wood working. But most of all, he loved spending time with people and especially his family. He is survived by Mary, his three children, Mark, David, and Becky, as well as their families and the apple of his eye these last few years, his beloved granddaughter, Ellen Elaine. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials on behalf of Allen Settje to Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church, 2000 Ptarmigan Trail, Estes Park, CO 80517.
