Leonard Henry Fiddelke, son of Henry and Mathilda (Gebert) Fiddelke wasborn in rural Granville, Iowa on July 30, 1924. He was united in marriage to Betty Mesner on June 16, 1946. To this union four children wereborn, Jeanette, Les, Loren and Jean.
Leonard was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. In his early adult years he worked with Albert Ebel and later he began his own farming operation.
Leonard enjoyed baseball, playing cards, bowling, and old time music. He and his sister, Marilyn, played their accordions at many events and eventually Leonard formed his own band, as well as playing in others. Heand his daughter, Jeanette, spent many hours playing duets on the organ. Area dances found Betty and Leonard dancing to a waltz or polka. There was always time for a card game at the Fiddelke kitchen table. Evenin the nursing home, he found someone he could challenge to a card game. Leonard was an avid bowler and was fortunate to be selected to bowl in the Peterson Classic several years.
Leonard passed away at Cherokee Specialty Care in Cherokee, Iowa on Sunday, May 26, 2019 reaching the age of 94 years, 9 months and 26 days.
Leonard is survived by his children, Les (Sherry) Fiddelke of Paullina,Iowa; Loren (Julie) Fiddelke of Holstein, Iowa; Jean (Glenn) Norris ofCherokee, Iowa and son-in-law, John Lenz of Lindenhurst, Illinois; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; daughter, Jeanette; parents and sister, Marilyn (Raymond) Dau.
