Mr. Fred Bargmann, an aged and respected citizen of Pender, died at hishome here at 4:30 o'clock Tuesday morning after a few days illness.
Heinrich Friedrich Bargmann was born at Eitzendorf, Amt Hoyer, HanoverProvince, Germany, July 4, 1842. He emigrated to America in 1870 and settled in Illinois. From there he went to Wisconsin and from there to Lancaster County, Neb. where he settled on a farm. Soon after moving to Lancaster County he was united in marriage to Miss Margarita Ahlers, April 18, 1878. To them ten children were born, three of whom died in infancy. The other seven are still living and are: Mrs. Herman Muller and Henry Bargmann of Bloomfield; Mrs. William Test of Madison, Nebr.; Mrs.William J. Paasch, Henry, William and Margarite Bargmann of Pender.
When the land about Pender was thrown open to settlement Mr. Bargman [sic] moved here from Lancaster County and took a homestead in 1885, 5 miles south west of Pender, where he lived until five years ago when he retired from the farm and moved to town, where he died Feb. 18, 1913, aged 70 years, 7 months and 14 days.
Mr. Bargman was a man of excellent character, a kind father and husbandand invariably a good neighbor. His best monument will be the good report he has left behind him in the com munity in which he has lived formore than a quarter of a century
The funeral service was held yesterday at the home, conducted by Rev. I. Eckhardt and interment made in the cemetery near St. John's LutheranChurch southwest of Pender.
