Gwendolyn was born June 11, 1927 in Wilmont Township near St. Kilian, MN. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Philomena (Lammers) Diekmann. She attended school through the 8th grade at St. Kilian Catholic School and later in life earned a GED. Gwen worked with her parents on the farm and helped take care of her younger brothers.

Gwen married Henry Recker on October 7, 1947 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lismore, Mn. They lived on a farm north of Lismore for many years where they raised their family. Gwen was primarily a stay at home wife and mother. When their children were grown, she would help out at the Adrian Café and Adrian Hardware. Gwen and Henry retired and moved into Adrian. Henry passed away on January 21, 2000. Gwen continued to live in Adrian. She moved into the Adrian Care Center in May of 2011 where she passed away on April 20, 2015.

She was active with the Catholic Daughters, the Catholic Christian Women, the Gray Ladies and volunteered at the Adrian Care Center. Gwen enjoyed taking trips with her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was always willing to lend a hand to her children when they needed help. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking.

Gwen is survived by her children, Jolene (Bob) Eickhoff of Sleepy Eye; Monty (Marge) Recker of Marshall, Jeri (Mike) Kruger of Adrian, Todd (Janell) Recker of Adrian; 10 grandchildren, Dawn (Randy) Sellner, Robyn (Dean) Walter, Jamie (Aaron) Schauman, Megan (Nick) Umberger, Mitch (Jessica) Recker, Ryan (Lisa) Kruger, Trevor Kruger, Tyrel Recker (Kelsey Warnke), Jennifer (Andrew) Echternach, and Taylor Recker; 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Earl (Dorene) Diekmann of Marshall; an aunt, Agatha (Melvin) Fuerstenberg; sisters-in-law, Annabelle Diekmann, Doris Diekmann and Mary Diekmann.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Henry, Jr. “Butch”; a granddaughter, Kaylee Rae Recker; and seven brothers, Greg, Cyril, Lambert, Stanley, Robert, Elmer, and Morris.
