Birth: Mar. 29, 1796 Virginia, USA Death: Apr. 10, 1857 Graves County Kentucky, USA My 3rd great grandfather. His mother was Alice 1770-1842. Brother to Ruben & possibly Abraham or John. Kentucky Death records shows a hand written ledger with a death date of August 10th, dying of dropsy. Owned 9 slaves in 1843 per the slave schedule. One of which was named Azgy, female, married, born in Henry County, Virginia, about 1806, dying in April or November 15, 1856, age 50, of Typhoid Fever per KY Death Records. My Aunt states she is also buried on the homestead, she was their housekeeper.my recent visit (2015) I encountered the current land owner, he stated their was no other tombstones other than Joab's. There was at one time because my Aunt Kathy seen them. Joab was one of the first settlers in Graves County in the Fancy Farm area, he owned over 1000 acres. His family was actually from Virginia, but lived in Smith County, TN before coming to Graves County. Joab and Lucy are buried on the old family farm 300 feet from the highway, off of Hwy 80 west, about 5 miles from the Mayfield Court Square. Joab's grave is 100 feet west of Lucys. I descend from Joab's 2nd wife Mary Watson Keeling Wilson. After Joab's death she married James Wilson and had 6 more children with him. He paid child support and also made him an heir. Joab did request he change his name but Tyre kept his name as Alvis and never lived with Joab. Tyra's mother married Robert Galbraith and moved to Illinois not long after Tyra was born.
