Davis, aged 75, a well known resident of Coshocton died Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Evans, 624 South Lawn, after an illness of several months' duration resulting in a general decline. Mary Ellen Almack was born in Perry Twp., Coshocton County on July 26, 1847. She was a daughter of William Washington Almack and Elizabeth Cullison, and a granddaughter of Thomas Almack, a pioneer who brought his family to this county from Maryland in 1818. She was united in marriage with Fredrick LaSerre on March 7, 1867. From this union three children survive: Charles LaSerre of South Lawn Ave.; Willian LaSerre and Mrs. John Evans, both of Coshocton. A half-brother, Moses Almack lives at New Castle and a half-sister, Mrs Armour Fry lives in Perry Twp. Mr. LaSerre died in 1899. Mrs LaSerre later united with John L. Davis in marriage. He preceded her to the grave in 1904. Mrs. Davis united with the Methodist Episcopal Church early in life and has ever been a faithful member of that communion. She was a matron of the old school loved by many. Her life was one of constant devotion to her family, but she always found ample time for good works in her church and among her neighbors. Funeral services held in Grace M.E. Church, with the Rev. W.B. Winters officiating. Interment will be in South Lawn Cemetery.
