Birth: Nov. 16, 1842 Seymour Jackson County Indiana, USA Death: Oct. 24, 1919 Marshalltown Marshall County Iowa, USA Mrs. Margaret Delvin Margaret Saint was born in November 14, 1841 in Jackson county Indiana; and died in Marshalltown, Iowa, September 24, 1919. At 3 years age she moved with her parents to Henry county, Iowa near Denova; and she has lived in the vicinity ever since. She was married in 1867 to John Delvin and they lived near Rome. To this union were born, five sons and two daughters. Three boys and two daughters have preceded the Mother in death. Also her husband passed away 32 years ago. He was a veteran of the Civil War. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Delvin, made her home in this vicinity until one year ago when she went to live at the Soldier's Home at Marshalltown, where she passed away. Mrs. Delvin was a member of the Friend's Church, and remained a faithful member until her death. She leaves to mourn their loss two sisters, Mrs. Mary Husted of Muray, Iowa and Mrs. Millicent McNeeley of Mt. Pleasant Iowa. Also two sons, Arthur Delvin of Mt. Pleasant Iowa and Clarence, whose residence is not known. Also two grand children, Elsie Pearl Delvin and Charles Earl Delvin. Mrs. Delvin was injured by a fall eight years ago and has been failing ever since. Just recently she suffered three strokes of paralysis, which resulted in her death. Mrs. Delvin was a good woman a devoted wife, a kind and indulgent Mother, and a woman always ready to respond to the call of neighbors and friends for help. She will therefore, be missed by a host of friends. The funeral service was held from the home of her sister, Mrs. Millicent McNeeley, in charge of Rev. Wilbrur R. Keesey who spoke on the text Psalm116:4, 5. The choir composed of Mrs. A.G. Ward, Mrs Chas. Quillen, E. E. Phelps, and. Ross Walker beautifully sang, "Nearer My God, To Thee" and "Rock of Ages. The pall bearers were old Civil War Comrades of Mrs. Delvin, namely, H. T. Bird,, Ed. Kitchen, George Laird, John Shumaker, W. E. Taylor and J. W. Smith. The interment was made at Pleasant Point cemetery.
