Reeder, 1975 page 42 John Husted (1) He was born in New Jersey on March 29, 1770. It is not known who his parents were although there were a number of Husted families living in Cumberland County, New Jersey, in the 1700's. Perhaps some day proof can be found and extend our family line back further. He was married to Nancy Conner about 1794 and they lived in Cumberland County, New Jersey. It appears his occupation was a farmer as the Deed Records in Cumberland County show them owning land. Also, in a list of Taxable Married Men in Fairfield Township, Cumberland County, for April 1801 a John Husted is listed as a farmer age 30. (See The Vineland Historical Magazine, Vol. 14, pp. 128-130). Nancy Conner was born January 20, 1775, and according to the Biographical Sketch of her son Ephriam (See App. II) She was a native of Ireland. The Charles Sheppard genealogy has John's parents as David Husted and Priscilla Diament. David was born before 1740 and probably 1735-1738. Priscilla died December 5, 1812. They were married before October 23, 1759.
