They married on July 8, 1953. After several years in California, Carl and Chris made their home in Broken Bow, OK. Carl was a construction worker by trade, and after retirement, Carl owned and operated Autrey Construction with his sons for many years. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his wonderful wife, his children, grandchildren, family and friends at his mountain home in Big Cedar, OK. Carl was preceded in death by father Louis Autrey; mother, Willie Baker; stepfather, Ira Baker; brothers, Troy Autrey, Charles "Bull" Autrey; sisters, Ruby Kearns, and Norma Hughes.
