[Bill's Nutt.FTW] She moved to Oregon County, Missouri, along with her parents and younger sister, Phoebe, near Myrtle where she met George. George told that when he first saw Mary Blundell, he said "That is the girl I intend to marry." - so he must have fallen in love at first sight. Mary is remembered as a kind and loving person. She would go to the field to help her son John push the plow when he started doing field work and was too small for the task. She would get on a horse and ride to the field or pasture to see about ailing stock. She was a Christian and a member of Uniteed Baptist Church. When her third son, Jesse, who never recovered from measles, was on his death bed, she also was ill with the illness which caused her death. Doctors then called it QUICK T.B. But she got up from her sickbed and went to her son's (Jesse) bedside to see if he was alright with the Lord and ready to meet God - which he assured her he was. Before she died, Mary was taken to her son Will's home in the town of Myrtle, MO., to be near the doctor. She had been in a coma, but roused and called for her children. She called them in one by one and told them she was dying and going to heaven. She asked them to be good children and to give themselves to the Lord so they could be with her in heaven some day.
