Barbara Higdon - Apr 1, 2006 Edit | Delete | Viewers | Reply to this item Sallie married Sol in 1895, James was born in Feb 1900 and AFTER his birth Sol filed for divorce stating that the child was not his. Did he ask the baby or what? So Sallie gave that child the Tharp name. She married Thomas Dabbs in Nov 1900. Nest two children born in 1904 and 1908. Don't know when or why she and Thomas divorced but he was married to Alma in 1910. So Sallie gave the boys the name Tharp, same as hers. Since the ex'x didn't have anything to do with the boys and why should she have children that carried different surnames? Sallie didn't marry again but raised her boys and, yes, I've heard that there might be some girls that were hers but have no proof. Wonder how many children there might be that doesn't carry the father's surname? I admire the fact that Sallie did make a life for herself. And I would bet that if she could tell us her reasons for things in her life she'd tell us that it was her business. If someone accuses you of something, just what good does it do to deny it. People are going to believe as they wish anyway.
