[edwards.FTW] [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 2, Ed. 1, Tree #0888, Date of Import: 6 May 2002] Born about 1670 in Lancashire, England: the scion of a cadet branch of the ancient landed gentry of the Byrom of Byrom in Lowton County, Lancaster. It is belived that the father of Henry Byrom was one Peter Byrom of Parr who died in August 1695, and was buried in Winwick Parish Church, Lancashire, the old family church of the Byroms of Byrom and their families, on August 9, 1695. With his brother, Peter Byrom, he called himself a native of Parr, Lancashire, and made a bond of indenture with Thomas Tyrer, alderman of Liverpool, to get passage to America. By profession he was a gunsmith and later planter of Southfarnham Parish, Essex County, VA. Emigrated from Liverpool, Lancashire, England, in 1696; and landed at NOrfolk, VA settling in Essex County, VA, about 5 miles northwest of tappahannock, on the Rappahonnock River in January 1697. Henry bought 140 acres of land from Frances Goldman, date of deed of sale was June 11, 1706. He received 40 acres of land from his brother-in-law, John Mills the younger, on December 13, 1711. Henry was made executor (jointly with the Widow) of the will of his father-in-law, Robert Mills of Essex County, VA dated January 5, 1709; his brother Peter and his wife Frances being witnesses. Henry was proved dead by dismissal of attachment, May 22, 1717; declared dead without will was proved by widow Frances Mills Byrom, administratix, on September 18, 1717; appraisal ofestate made on November 19, 1717 by Eramus Allen, William Allen, and John Gatewood; and estate was not settled until September 16, 1724. Henry Byrom, the emigrant, married on or about December 10, 1702 (date of dowry transfer of 100 acres estimated by Robert Mills, the Bride's father), in Essex County, VA to Frances Mills (who married 2ndly in 1718 to Alexander Somervell, who died ante 1724). Miss Mills was the daughter of Robert Mills of Essex County, VA (Will dated January 5, 1709; proved March 17, 1709), and his first wife Mary; his second wife being a widow Jane Brown. Robert Mills father was John Mills the Elder, who aquired 500 acres of land by patent, on the south sideof the Rappahannock River near head of Tignors Creek and on the south side of said creek, in 1663; and sold 140 acres to Thomas New before or about 1687 and was dead in 1687. His wife was Rebecca Mills.
