Wuth in Christian County Author: Mabel Phillips Date: 1 Aug 2000 12:00 PM GMT Surnames: WUTH, WILSON, HAGGARD, BROWN, HEILES Classification: Query In Reply to: Lost Family by: Carl Wuth Post Reply | Mark Unread | Report Abuse Print Message The only Wuth family I find in Christian County is that of August Wuth 12 Nov 1840 - 3 Mar 1920, a wagon maker and wheelwright who was born in Muhlhausen, Germany and came to America at age 30. After a short time in New York City, he moved to Kentucky where he married 6 Feb1871 Helena “Lena” Heiles (1853 - 1922), a native of Indiana. They moved near Billings, Missouri in 1879. In 1884, through a declaration of intent, entered in Book Z Page 69, August became a naturalized American citizen in Springfield, Greene County, MO. The family appeared on Christian County federal censuses: 1880 - Polk Twp - Household 06;1900 Polk Twp, Household 16; and 1910 Polk Twp, Household 9. Membersof the St. Peter’s Evangelical Church in Billings, August and Lena are buried in St. Peter’s Cemetery there. August and Helena (Heiles) Wuth were the parents of nine children. The names of three who died young have not been found. Augusta “Gussie” E. Wuth (29 Dec 1872 - 7 Sep 1908) married a carpenter, James Thomas Wilson (20 Nov 1858 - 2 Nov 1936 ) 13 Feb 1894 in Christian County. They appeared in Christian County censuses 1900 PolkTwp, Household 89 and 1910 Finley Twp, Household 49. J. Thomas & Gussie (Wuth) Wilson are buried in the Ozark Cemetery beside their threechildren: Ethel Mae Wilson 2 Apr 1894 - 19 Aug 1972; Oliver L. Wilson 13 Jun 1897 - 14 Oct 1981 and Earl Wilson (6 Feb 1899 - 13 Jan 1906). Lena Wuth (1876 - 1948) married Harman Haggard (1865 - 1905) between1900 and 1905. They had no children. Lena was a dressmaker. They areburied in Rose Hill Cemetery. Ludwig August “Louis” Wuth 21 Apr 1879 - 21 Mar 1890 is buried in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Amelia Wuth (Dec 1883 - Apr 1979) married George P. Brown 12 Sep 1904 in Christian County. She died in the Christian County Nursing Homein Ozark, but was listed as a resident of Aurora, Missouri. She leftone son, Leonard Brown. Albert Wuth (May 1886 - ?) was living in Kansas City at the time of August’s death. Lillian “Lillie” Wuth 10 Oct 1888 - 4 Feb 1919 married E. V. Methany. She is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery. I don’t know whether they hadany children, but there were five grandchildren at the time of August’s death. I can identify only Leonard Brown, Ethel Mae Wilson and Oliver L. Wilson. Oscar Wuth (10 Jun 1895 - 20 Oct 1987) is listed in Social Security records with the last address of Lawrence, Douglas County, KS. It is not known whether there are any living descendants. Amelia’s obituary lists no grandchildren. Gussie appears to probably have no living descendants. It may be that the two other grandchildren listed on August’s obit may be children of Albert or Oscar.
