Story is that Clemens died following a fall from his horsewhile riding down the Main St of Decorah. He was carried from the street to an adjacent store where he died.
Northen Funkes had "e" on name. Our ancestors were Roman Catholic in Protestant Luthern area of Westphalia.
In 1930 Westphalia was annexed by Prussia.~
