MOCKENHAUPT ALBAN Age 92 of O'Hara Twp., died Tuesday June 24, 2003 at Southwestern Pennsylvania Veterans Center, Pittsburgh. Born Dec. 10, 1910 in Nauroth, Germany, he came to the United States in 1938 and lived most of his life in the Pittsburgh area. He served in the Army in World War II, he attended Duff's Business School where he studied English and Business. Mr. Mockenhaupt was an employee of American Heating Company for many years before retiring. He was a member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Aspinwall, American Legion Post 77 in Aspinwall, Teutonia Mannerchor on the Northside of Pittsburgh and an active member of Vintage in East Liberty, where he enjoyed singing and creative writing. He was an avid chess player and sought other players at every opportunity. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Ingeburg (Wenz) Mockenhaupt, a son, Ronald (Linda) Mockenhaupt of Cheswick, three daughters, Karen (Robert) Richey of Round Rock, TX, Christal Mockenhaupt and her husband Anthony Edmonds of Melbourne, Australia and Robin Mockenhaupt and husband Ralph Popp of Robbinsville, NJ, a grandson Kieran Edmonds, nieces and nephews in Germany and the U.S., several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter Mockenhaupt and Katharina Arndt of Nauroth and 13 brothers and sisters. Visiting hours Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 pm in MATTHEW ARENA FUNERAL HOME, P.C., in Mt. Royal Memorial Park, 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd., Shaler. Funeral Mass Monday 10:00 am in St. Scholastica Church (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Interment in Mt. Royal Memorial Park.
