Georgia W. Frierdich, nee Buettner, 88, of Waterloo, died Dec. 28, 2019, in Belleville. She was born March 25, 1931, in Wartburg, the daughter of the late George and Adele (nee Schutt) Buettner. Mrs. Frierdich is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Eilers (Paul) of Trenton and Mary Mueller (David) of Dublin, N.H.; Franklin (Ruth) Buettner of Collinsville and Richard (Marlene) Buettner of Waterloo; brother-in-law Ronald (Veronica) Frierdich of Waterloo; grandchildren Rachel (Cory) McDaniel, Elizabeth (Brian) Moore, Katherine (Brandon) Renschen, Emily Eilers and Philip (Lauren) Mueller; and great-grandchildren Paige Mc-Daniel, Royce Moore, Natalie McDaniel, Henry Moore, Abigail Mueller, Gwendolyn Moore and baby Renschen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Royce R. J. Frierdich; brothers Clemens and Russell Buettner; and sisters Edith Gerber and Eileen Monday. On May 3, 1952, Georgia was united in marriage to Royce Roland John Frierdich, whom she metat a Walther League ball game. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1989. Georgia attended Holy Cross Lutheran School of Wartburg and Water-loo High School before working throughout her life as a seam-stress and expert quilter. She was active in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, taught Sunday School, and at-tended Bible Study at Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Wartburg. Mrs. Frierdich servedas a 4-H leader and worked to provide meals for church events and celebrations. She loved gardening, bird watching and cooking. Georgia spent almost two decades of her later years sharing her love offood and God with campers at the Camp Wart-burg cafeteria. Mrs. Frierdich never missed a birthday and notes and cards from her were always treasured. Her deep-rooted laughter was always well-earned, infectious, and will be missed. Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 2, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral is Friday, Jan. 3., at 11 a.m., at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wartburg withRev. Dan Ostlund officiating. Mrs. Frierdich will be buried in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, the Lutheran Hour Ministries or Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Wartburg.
