Passed away August 1, 2012 at the age of 87. He is survived by his dearly beloved wife of 56 years, Bonnie; loving children Robert Gutierrez (Karyn) of Santa Rosa, Christopher Gutierrez (Nancy) of Palm Desert, Laurie Bertacco (Darrell) of Windsor, Victoria Mulvaney (John) of Novato, Shirley Munoz and Jorge Gutierrez of Mexico, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. George was a generous man who put his family first, treasured his friends, and was strong in his faith. His goodness was demonstrated by how he lived his life. Not only a gentleman, he was a "gentle man", never leaving the house without a hat and impeccably dressed. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, George was a staff sergeant in combat in the Korean War. For 25 years he was a sales manager for Prudential Insurance. He and Bonnie were fortunate to travel, and danced every night on the 47 cruises they enjoyed together. George loved his trips to Cabo every year for the past 30 years. He narrowly escaped being a victim of 911 on his return flight to San Francisco, when he changed his reservation from Flight 93. He still kept the boarding passes as a reminder. He was an avid golfer, boasting three "Holes In One". He enjoyed playing golf with his longtime friends and family, especially his two boys, who will miss him dearly. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Eugene's Cathedral, 2323 Montgomery Dr., Santa Rosa. Donations may be made to Cardinal Newman High School, in memory of George S. Gutierrez, 50 Ursuline Rd., Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
