Phillip H. Gorius
Phillip H. Gorius, age 65 of Massillon, died Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Affinity Medical Center-Doctors Campus. He was born in Massillon on December 5, 1942 and was the son of the late Clarence and Carolyne (Reichel) Gorius. He was a lifelong area resident. Upon graduation from Washington High School in 1961, Phil joined the Ohio National Guard and retired from there in 2002. He also retired from the U.S. Post Office in Massillon following 35 years of service, serving as a maintenance supervisor. At the time of his death he was employed as a security guard at Morton Salt. He was a member of the American Legion Post 221 where had served with the Color Guard. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Gorius in 2007.
He is survived by his sister, Jill Gorius of Massillon; his sister-in-law, Glenda Gorius; his nieces, Dawn Slagle, Heather Vignos and Amber Barlow; his nephew Adam Gorius; and six great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 1:00 P.M. at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Lalama officiating. Burial will follow in Massillon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 12 Noon until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Stark County Humane Society.
