Sadly, Homestead and the Mon Valley has lost a compassionate native son. The passing of architect Victor R. Graves marks a life of dedication to his roots, his family, his community and his faith. From a very young age, Victor aspired to be an architect and he enjoyed 53 years working to build schools in communities throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including his hometown of West Mifflin. Those who knew Vic would remember his love of life, his love of family, and kindness towards all he met. Victor Graves, 77, died peacefully with his family by his side, January 13, 2012. He was the loving husband of his "bride," Shirley (Steiner) Graves for 53 years. Born April 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Walter F. Graves and Edith L. Graves of Homestead and was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy (Graves) Ritter. In addition to his wife Shirley, he is also survived by Lisa Graves Marcucci, Pleasant Hills; Bernard "Chip" Marcucci, Jefferson Hills; Walter and Jacqueline Graves, Hanover, PA; Victor and Beth Graves, Jefferson Hills; Matthew and Leigh Graves, Penn Township; sister Mary Ann (Graves) Nowak, sister Catherine E. Graves, and twelve grandchildren Andrew Graves, Maxwell Marcucci, Peggy Graves, Layton Graves, Spencer Graves, Camden Marcucci, Alison Graves, Russell Graves, Sean Graves, Amanda Graves, Ryan Graves and Anna Graves. Friends received at the SAVOLSKIS - WASIK - GLENN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3501 Main Street, Munhall, Monday and Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass Wednesday, 10 a.m. at St. Therese Church, Munhall.
