LAKELAND -- Mr. Clarence R. Kasten of Lakeland died of a heart attack Sunday (Dec. 15, 2002) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. He was 81.
Born in Alton, Ill., on Jan. 12, 1921, he came to Lakeland in 1965. He was a senior industrial engineer for Owens Illinois Glass for 42 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the VFW and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles. He played semipro basketball and softball in Owens, Ill. He was the golf champion for the city league of Alton, Ill. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Mr. Kasten is survived by his wife, Marcella J. Kasten; daughter, Cindy Reeves, Sherman, Ill.; sons, Tom Kasten, Lakeland, Mark Kasten, Tequesta; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Newspaper with a Heart, or a charity of your choice.
