FORD Maria - Gibbs Ford, age 94, died on July 3, 2006. Mrs. Ford, a Jacksonville native, was the daughter of George W. and Kathleen Ingraham Gibbs. She was active in the Hyacinth Circle of the Garden Club of Jacksonville, and The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in The State of Florida awarded her to their National Honor Roll for her work with the Historic XimenezFatio House in St. Augustine, Fl and her service to the society since the late 1930's holding many elected state offices over the years. Her family settled in northeast Florida in the 1820's. Her maternal grandfather, James E. Ingraham, beginning in the 1870's with Mes. Sanford and Plant, was active in the early development of Florida; then was an associate of Henry M. Flagler, both as President of the Florida Model Land Co. and VicePresident of the Florida East Coast Railroad. Her father, George W. Gibbs, founded the Gibbs Gas Engine Company, which later became Gibbs Corporation, one of Jacksonville's twomajor shipyards. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Conway C. Ford, and her grandson Dudley D. Johnson, Jr. She is survived by her children: Dudley D. Johnson (Carole) of Cazenovia, NY; Kathleen Johnson Wu (H.K.) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; Victoria Ingraham Ford of Jacksonville, FL, and her stepdaughter, Millicent Ford Creech, two grand childrenJennifer Johnson Eddy of Manchester Mass., and Norwood Ford Creech Watkins of La Ponte, AKand three great grand childrenGibbs, Dale and Eliza Eddy; and devoted housekeeper of 26 years Mary Johnson. Graveside services will be held on July 7, 2006 at 11 am at Evergreen CemeteryGate 5 with The Reverend Lila Byrd Brown officiating
