Don Immel has thatlist of people who received money back. Grandpa Immel received $0.87back. That isn't anything now but it was a lot then. Grandfather HermanImmel had 11 brothers and sisters. Herman borrowed money to come out tothe West. I have heard that he never paid back this money. Herman's sonVictor was named after a Tractor Machine/thrasher (Victor). Herman Immeland wife Mary both had education, they lived around churches, and peoplewere buried in the courtyards. When Victor Immel set out west he was onroute to Alaska, where the work was, but got off the train in Spokane forsomething to eat. There he met someone who offered him a job so hestayed and took it. That is why the Immel's homesteaded in the Yakimaarea. Herman sold relastate in Spokane. The Immel family was into dairyfarming back in Fond du Lac Wisconsin. They had about 50-60-70 acres ofland. on 4/5/96 Kathleen Joanne Immel and husband Patrick Michael Coddingtonwent to National Archives in Seattle Washington. We located informationon Herman George Immel on the 1920 census. The following were the ageslisted for this family. Herman 47 husband Mary 44 wife Herbert 23 son Victor 22 son Harold 17 son Hilda 16 daughter Marie 16 daughter William 13 son Gilbert 6 son Opal 4 son I know he had a daughter Essie, but I know she died in a fire when just ababy. I was told by Don Immel that Herman's birthday was October 1871. but Ihad ordered up a copy of his birth certificate and it shows his birthdayis April 26, 1872. Herman's obituary said he was 75 when he died. He was buried on Saturdaybehind Son Victor of Yakima, Herbert and Harold of Seattle William andGilbert of San Francisco (Gilbert being in the US Navy) Daughters ClaraGardner of Yakima, Mrs. Marie Lea of Seattle, Opal (Mrs. Mel Goodman) ofSan Francisco, and Mrs. Leo McGuire of Tacoma Washington In one of the newspaper clipping they listed him as George Herman insteadof Herman George. It said that he died Tuesday of injuries from a caraccident. Resident of Edmonds born in Fond Du Lac, wife Mary died about4 years ago.
