He is listed on the 1870 census in Pleasant Township of Allen County. In his household were living two women from Sweden, Mary who was 40 and Catherine who was 45.
My personal opinion is that Catherine was Michael & Nicholas sister from Obergailbach. On the ship manifest list, it shows a Christine and a Catherine on board with Nicholas. Their ages matchthe ages of Michael and Nicholas Kinders sisters.
Michael arrived in the States January 1857.
According to the Ft. Wayne Journal Gazette in his obituary,he served in the French Army. He saw service in Algiers and other French Colonies. His life's story was filled with thrillingadventures. At the time of his death, his wife was still living along with an adopted son.
I also have a document showing that he served in the French Army. It states that his brother, Michael did not serve because his mother was a widow. His marriage is also recorded on microfilm ofthe St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ft. Wayne, Indiana marriage records of 1862 at the Allen County Public Library. Nicholas was to mary a Mary Madeleine----------. But Saint Aloysius CatholicChurch records show that he never married.
Michael, Mary T., Nicholas and Catherine are all buried in the same grave sites with two different markers.
