David Arthur "Bud" Duve Sr., 80, died Feb. 6, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, of natural causes. Services will be Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tennyson, Wis. He was born on Feb. 22, 1929, in Soldiers Grove, Wis., son of Englebert and Beatrice (Loeffelholz) Duve and his beloved stepfather, Ernest Studier.
At a young age, Bud went to work as a farmhand for the father of the girl he would eventually marry (he always said he loved her from the first time he saw her). In 1947, he married his childhood sweetheart (loving wife of 61 years) and fathered 18 children. He was employed at the former Dubuque Packing Co. for 27 years until his retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Duve, of Dubuque; 15 children, David (Pearl) Duve, of Dubuque, Jon (Lynn) Duve, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mark (Goldie) Duve, of East Dubuque, Ill., Russell (Karen) Duve, Beatrice (Brice) Nagelmaker, Luke (Sheila) Duve, Paul (Debbie) Duve, Beulah Duve and Victoria (Don) Ruefer, all of Dubuque, Chris (Pauline) Duve, of Boscobel, Wis., Terry (Karrie) Duve, of Cedar Rapids, Tim (Lori) Duve, of Dubuque, Kelly (Ron) Garman, of Springville, Iowa, Michael (Holly) Duve Sr., of Dubuque, and Rhonda (Jay) Brady, of Seattle;
