BIRTH PLACE: The birth place entry for their father in the 1880 census for Mary, Isaac, and George was Virginia. The birth place entry for his father in the 1880 census for Nathaniel was New Jersey.

BIRTH DATE: He is not listed with his father in the Loudoun County tax lists until 1798, so he was born before 1782. Isaac is listed in the tax lists for 1791, but is not listed again until 1795. By that year he pays tax on himself and son John. So John was born before 8 Sep 1779, the 1850 census gives his age as 72 (born about 1778) and he was in his 83d yearwhen he died in 1860 (born about 1777). In 1796 Isaac is still only paying tax on himself and John. In 1797 Isaac only pays tax on himself. Then in 1798 Isaac pays the tax on himself and sons Nathaniel and John. So my best estimate is that Nathaniel was born between 21 May 1780 and XX Xxx 1782. The date of payment was not given in 1798. We also must keep in mind that Nathaniel entered into a marriage bond on 29 Sep 1798 and he did not appear to need the permission of his father to do so.

Be it remembered that at the June term 1846 of the court of common Pleas in and for the county of Guernsey in the state of Ohioheld at and in the courthouse within and for the count of Guernsey aforesaid on the Eighth day of June in said year the last will and testament of Nathaniel Tobin late of the county of Guernsey aforesaid deceased being brought into court for Probate [J.S.] Morris and George A. Estate the subscribing witnesses to annexed last will and testament of Nathaniel Tobin deceased appeared in open court onthe Eighth day of June Anno Domini Eighteeen hundred and forty six and being sworn each for himself upon his solemn oath saith that he saw the testator sign the said will that he subscribed said willas a witness thereto in the presence and at the request of the testator that said testator at the time of signing said will was of sound mind and memory of full age and not under any restraint which said will was in the words and figures following towit - "In the name of the Benevolent Father of all I Nathaniel Tobin Senior of Monroe Township Guernsey County Ohio do make & publish this my lastwill & testament -

Item 1st I give & devise to my son G.W. Tobin the farm on which I now reside situate in Monroe Township Guernsey County Ohio containing about eighty acres at and after my dcese he selling so much stock as will pay my debts. I give and dvise to my beloved wife her third of the proceeds of the farm on which I now reside during her nateral life also to have & hold all my household & kitchen furnitur Bed & Bedding other goods & chattles exclusive of what pays my honest debts. _

Item 3rd My son Geo. W. Toban to support my sisterRachel Toban who now resides with me during her single life and during her life if does not marry

Item fourth the money due me and to be collected. I want to be approproted to paying my debts and if there is any surplus to be paid to my beloved wife Elizabeth Toban. Each of my other chlren Nathanl, Isaac, Mary, Hannah, Elizabeth, & Ellen to Receive five dollars. Each out of my Estate. _ I do hereby nominate and appoint John Bracken and Geo. W. Toban my son executors of my last will & testament hereby authorizing and empowering them to compromise adjust release and discharge in manner as they may deem proper the debts & claims I do also authorize & empower them if it shol become nessary in order to pay my debts to sell by private sale upon such terms of credit as or otherwise as they may think proper my stock and real estate and deeds to purchasers to execute acknowledge and deliver in fee simple _

I do hereby revok all former wills by me made.In testimony whereof I leave her _ unto sit my hand and seal this 4th day of May in the year eighteen hundred forty six _
