Boxly W. Waak Boxly W. Waak Father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Veteran, Civil Servant. Born Jan. 8, 1918, in Bellville, Texas. Boxly William Waak, 90, died of pneumonia on Friday, January 17, 2008, in Austin, Texas at 9:30 p.m. Boxly was born on January 8, 1918 in Bellville, Texas, to Henry Christian Waak and Hulda Friedericka Timme. He was the third of four children. Raised in Bellville, Texas, Boxly spent his early days farming with his mother and three sisters, after the early demise of his father. In 1935, Boxly entered the U.S. Army serving through World War II. He attended Officer's Candidate School and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in October of 1942. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves after the war achieving a rank of Captain. Boxly met Anne Nell Smith, first in 1935, and again in 1941. They married on April 5, 1942 and welcomed their first child, Patricia Ann, the following year. They added to their family as they traveled. Linda Sue was born in 1944. Roger William was their third child in 1948; and they completed their family with the birth of Donald Ray in 1950. That year the young Waak family settled in Conroe, Texas. In 1951, Boxly scored 99 on the Civil Service exam and joined the U.S. Post Office, where he served until retirement. He still found time to work as a Boy Scout leader, a Sunday School teacher, and a Little League coach. Upon retirement, Boxly and Nell moved to Wimberley, Texas, where they were active in the church and community activities. Boxly is survived by his sister, Gladys Waak Arnold of Katy, Texas; two daughters: Patricia Waak and her husband Ken Strom of Erie, Colorado and Linda Waak Beasley and her husband Jon Beasley of Conroe, Texas; two sons: Roger Waak and his wife Becky of Austin, Texas and Donald Waak of Austin, Texas. He leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Cinira Baldi of Denver, Colorado and Rachel Carter of Burke, Virginia, Melissa Beasley of Boulder, Colorado and Jon David Beasley of Conroe, Texas, Erika Marcoux and her husband David Marcoux of Walnut Creek, California and Graham Waak of Austin, Texas, Betsy Waak of Bakersfield, California and William Waak III of San Antonio, Texas, Lori Thompson and her husband Tim of Pelham, Alabama, Arlene Waak of Amarillo, Texas and Christine Monaghan of Houston, Texas. And his beloved great-grandchildren include Anise Baldi, Brandon Waak, Jordan Waak, Andrew Thompson, Heather Thompson, and Cora Sage Waak. Boxly is preceded in death by his wife, Nell; a great-grandson, Isaiah Barrington Carter; his sisters Hazel Waak Smith and Grace Waak Witte and his parents, Henry and Hulda Waak. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley, Texas, on Friday, January 25. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. at Thomason's on Saturday, January 26, including graveside at Wimberley Cemetery.
