He and his wife divorced when their daughter was young. Source - Beverly Lawrence Saputo. From the Quincy, Illinois Herald Whig on December 12, 1979: Ralph L. Lawrence, 66, of Illinois Veterans Home died at 7:43 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 11, 1979) in Schapers Hospital at the home. Mr. Smith (???) was born June 26, 1913, in Breckenridge, a son of William and Bonnie Buckner Lawrence. He was a retired laborer and a World War II Navy veteran. He came to Quincy Sept. 13, 1968, from Danville. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. V. Saputo of Springfield, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Singer of Elgin. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday in All Faiths chapel at the home, conducted by the Rev. William S. Warford. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. IS THIS MY RALPH L. LORENZ??? His father's name matches, and his sister was named Annabelle, with Anna obviously a shortened version of that name. And Breckenridge is not far from Springfield.
