Bellville Times June 31, 1963 Death Claims Henry H. Hoff A heart condition of four years standing proved fatal at 11 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, to Hy W. Hoff, 78, widely known farmer of the Roach Prairie community. Mr. Hoff had been a resident of the Colonial Rest Home at Schulenburg, where he died. Mr. Hoff was marrried to the former Miss Emma Wammel in Bellville December 1, 1909. Following her death June 27, 1918, relatives took care of the couple's children until they were old enough to return to the family home where they took care of home duties with their father. Mr. Hoff was born September 2, 1884, at Roach Prairie. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Hoff, pioneer residents of this area. He spent his entire active life in farming and in raising cattle. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Bellville. Funeral rites were held from the chapel of the Pete E. Etlinger funeral home in Bellville at 4 p.m. Friday, January 25, with the Rev. C.H. Rose officiating and with arrangements by Etlinger. Serving as pallbearers for interment at Pilgrim's Rest cemetery, were Leroy Hoff, Dempsey Muery, Sidney Krueger and Sidney Schluens. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jesse Frank of Angleton and Mrs. Kenneth McKenzie of Odessa; three sons, Ernest Hoff of Lake Charles, La., Alvin Hoff of Bellville and Arthur Hoff of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Meta Ueckert of Bellville; two brothers, C.M. Hoff and Paul Hoff, both of Bellville; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
