1. In 1918 he was a farmer and then according to the 1920 census
he worked as a farm laborer.
2. Copied from a portion of his death notice:
"Woodruff Aug. 3. - Earnest E. McAbee, 51, life-long resident of
Woodruff, died today at his home after a long illness.
Mr. McAbee had retired from the Brandon mill several years ago
because of poor health. He was a World war veteran and a mem-
ber of the Emma Grace Memorial Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Grace Brockman McAbee; a daugh-
ter Miss Margaret McAbee, two brothers, Clyde McAbee of Wood-
ruff, and Frank McAbee of Greenville, and two sisters, Mrs. M.L.
Lanford of Greenville, and Mrs. Jess Jones of Woodruff.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock
(DST) at the Emma Grace Memorial Methodist church. The Rev.
M.E. Derrick, the Rev. Dave Simpson, the Rev. B.H. McChesney,
and the Rev. W.M. Phillips will officiate, and interment will be in
Bellview cemetery."
