the age of 3m 21d; he was buried in the Brown Cemetery,
Montgomery co., IL.

"Mrs. Elizabeth Armstrong
Mrs Elizabeth Armstrong died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank
J. Hammach, two miles east of Hillsboro at sunset on Saturday,
September 7, at the age of 75 years 4 months and 14 days. Mrs
Armstrong had been enjoying good health and attended the Old Settlers
reunion in this city on the Thursday before her death. The funeral was
held at the Hammack home Monday morning. Rev. R.H. Wilson, pastor
of the Hillsboro Presbyterian church, officiating. Interment was made at
the McCord cemetery east of this city.
Elizabeth Armstrong was born on Dec. 23, 1836, two and one half
miles northeast of what is now Coffeen, being the second daughter of
Samuel and Charlotte Brockman.
She was married to James L. Armstrong January 10, 1856. To this
union seven children were born of whom three died in infancy. Her
husband died Nov. 24, 1872, and a son, James L. died February 25,
1884, at about the age of 20 years.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter, John Armstrong of
near Irving, Edward M. of Hillsboro, and Mrs. Frank Hammack, living
east of Hillsboro, with whom she made her home. She is also survived
by twelve grand children, one sister, Mrs. Artimicia Joyce of Coffeen,
and a brother, William Brockman of Yale, Oklahoma. She made a
profession of religion soon after her marriage, and united with the
Cumberland Presbyterian church at McDavid's Point. Upon her removal
to a farm near Hillsboro she, with her husband, united by letter with the
Hillsboro Presbyterian church, of which church she was a consistant
member until her death."
