2. In the 1860 census she was identified as being a tailor and
her two children, Rebecca and Callaway, from her marriage
to James Brown were members of John E. Brockman's household.
3. In the 1880 census she and her son, John, were enumerated
as living together without any other family members.
4. Perlina was probably an unmarried widow upon the birth of her
son, John S. Brockman (born 6 Nov 1864); this was after the death
of her third husband, John E. Brockman, who died 12 Feb 1862.
5. Cheryl Santos was a great help in unraveling the marriages
of Perlina (Sullivan) Dobbins Brown Brockman. On page 89 of
Wm. E. Brockman's Orange County Virginia Families her name
is given as Permilia Brown, the second wife of John E. Brockman.
6. In 1862 the Miller co., MO probate court appointer her to be the
guardian of Michael A. Brockman, a minor son of John E. Brockman;
in all probability this was most likely Ambrose M. Brockman.
7. She applied for a widow's pension based on the Civil War
service of her husband, John E. Brockman. Application
#33,481.
8. In 1900 she was enumerated as living in the household of
her daughter, Sarah M. Bond. The census information also
showed that Paulina had been the mother of eight children
with four living in 1900.
