3 NOTE The Lynnwood Cemetery can be found in section 13 of Jackson Township on the west edge of Clarksville. In 1883, the city fathers had the land surveyed and established the cemetery. The cemetery contained an area of forty-three acres and was purchased from Lewis Slimmer for the sum of $1,000.00. It is owned and operated by the city and has had excellent care through the years. Prominent features at the cemetery include the Perrin oblish and Root-Slimmer mausoleum in the center of the original cemetery. The first person buried in these grounds was Daniel, a son of Dr. A.F. Tichenor on April 3,1878. His death occurred before the grounds were platted. Section A in the northwest corner is divided into north (Ano), center (Ace) and south (Aso). The Mausoleum, M, has graves on the east side, Me, and west side, Mw. The Memorial part of the cemetery which lies to the east, is divided into three sections: Ma, Mb (babyland) and Mc.
