Nancy Easton was raised by her Grandmother Nancy Nichols. Her Father died the year she was born, and her mother died when she was 4 years old.

Nancy Ann was born4 June 1860 in Carrigan Twp. Marion Co.IL. (Re 1860 Marion Co census) , the daughter of Lewis and

Marinda Jackson Easton. Lewis and Marinda were married 29 Dec. 1858 in Fayette Co. Ill.Lewis, born in Clinton Co. IL. 18 Aug 1851, the son of Pomeroy and Anna Easton, died when Nancy Ann was only 5 months old, 10 Nov 1860. Lewis isburied in the Ebineezer Cern. East Fork Twp. Clinton Co.IL. Nancy Ann was their only child. Marinda married again after Lewis died, to a man named Wm. Cole 26 Mar. 1863 in Fayette Co. IL. There were no children born to this couple. Marinda died 28 Mar. 1865 and is buried in Ebineezer Cern. beside Lewis. Her stone is inscribed Marinda Cole.

Nancy Ann was given her parents land in her mother's will. (Re. Marion Co. probate). Wm. Morris bought the land from her. Nancy Ann went to live with her maternal grandmother, and step grandfather, Wm. Morris and Nancy W. Nichols Morris. The Troutt children knew her as Grandma Morris as she lived with John and Nancy Ann Easton Troutt and their children. Aunt Florence, and Uncle Relza, would recall that she smoked a pipe, and the children would light it for her because she wasblind. John told Grandma Morris she could live with them because her son-in-law George Pratt was so mean to her, and John Troutt was a pleasant kind hearted man. He told the story that he married Nancy Ann because he felt sorry for her because she was an orphan.

John Troutt and Nancy Ann Easton were married 24 Oct. 1878, at the home of Wm. and Grandma Morris, EastFork Twp. Clinton

Co. IL. John and Nancy Ann had 13 children, 11 were raised to become adults. Nancy Ann's mother Marinda Jackson Easton was the daughter of Henry and Nancy W. Nichols Jackson. They were married 20 Feb 1840 in Marion Co. IL. Henry was born 1 Jan. 1818 in Tenn. son of Henry Sr. and Nancy Jackson. He died 11 Jul1846 and is buried in Magassi Cem. Pope Twp. Fayette Co. IL.This cemetery is just West of Patoka on the blacktop road. His stone is still standing, but in bad need of repair. This

cemetery is well kept. His stone is in the South East corner.

Grandma Morris was Nancy W Nichols and the daughter of Bird and Mary (Polly) Hughes Nichols. She was born 20 Feb. 1823

in Smith Co. Tenn. and died Feb. 1907 and is believed to be buried in Ebineezer Cem. beside her daughter Marinda. Uncle

Relza said he remembered when she died, "They put her in the wagon and hauled her to the cemetery." Because she lived with

John and Nancy Ann, and Ebinezer is not far from the old Homestead, this is a very good assumption.

Nancy W. came to Illinois with her father Bird Nichols, a sister Martha, and several brothers, some stayed and some went back to Tenn. They came in about 1837 after her mother died. Her brother Jesse Cole Nichols stayed and married NancyNewman. This couple were the great grandparents of the Stiles Sisters. Her sister Martha Nichols later married James Easton, brother to Lewis Easton. James died 16 Nov 1879 and is buried in Phelps/Steel Cem., Carrigan Twp. across the road from the Fairman store. Martha and James have a daughter buried in Ebinezer Cern., a son buried in Phelps/Steel Cem. In the 1800 Marion Co. Census we find Martha Easton age 59 widow, blind, and a son Lewis age 18. No record has been found as to what happened to these people. The Easton families in the Patoka area are from the brotherPomeroy Jr. Easton.

Amanda born 9 Feb. 1855. Amanda married Matthew Casey. This couple and their family later moved to Idaho. It was this family that Virgil Troutt was visiting when he was killed in a hunting accident.

Wm. Geo. Henshaw must have died, but no probate or tombstone can be found to indicate when this happened.

Grandmother Nancy W. Nichols, Jackson, Henshaw then married Wm. Morris 27 Oct. 1861 at Mounds Chapel West of Patoka.

This is the husband she was living with when Nancy Ann came to live with her. This couple had one child Lucy, born 26 Dec 1862 East Fork Twp. Lucy married Geo. Pratt and they are both buried in Pritchett Cem. in Boulder, IL. Lucy died 18 Feb 1933, she and Geo.Pratt had 2 daughters and 2 sons.

Grandmother Nancy W. Nichols, Jackson, Henshaw, Morris was the grandaughter of Revolutionary War Veteran: Jesse and Lucy Mann Nichols. He served the War in Halifax Va. He and his wife Lucy moved to Smith Co. TN where he died in 1805. Lucy

died in 1845 in Smith Co. TN where most of these records were found, including some tall stories and was called a "Damned
