WIVES: Morton gives his wife as MARY BENSON and most accounts show her as the daughter of GEO & MARGARET BENSON. However Pendleton deeds and GEO's 1805 estate appraisal show his daughter's husband as ISAAC SKIDMORE who died in 1833. JUNE PROVINI shows MARY BENSON and then MARY HARPER. The marriage to HARPER is proven by her father's Feb 17, 1818 will when he named her husband as HENRY SWADLEY. Since there are no marriage records for either marriage, I think MARY HARPER was his one and only marriage. Unless of course another MARY BENSON can be found.
