MARY (ANNA MARIA) ?

Notizen zu dieser Person

WIFE: Walter Eye in his 1994 revision to the SIMMONS COMPILATION gives JOHN's wife as MRGT RULEMAN. This was apparently based on info from Dr. Bell. However the will of JOHN in 1837 (which I believe was this JOHN,) names his wife as MARY. JEFF CARR gives his wife as ANNA MARIA which is a better match. His source is a court case among CHRISTIAN RULEMAN's heirs which shows MRGT married to JOS SIMMONS SR, this JOHN's son.

Walter Eye gives JOHN's death as 1855 with will being attested in court on Feb 8, 1855. I think this JOHN died in 1837 with his will being attested in court Sep 7, 1837. My reasons center around land records:
1- JOHN was granted 125 (or 100) acres on S Fork by his father NICHOLAS in 1794. The JOHN who died in 1837 left his land to sons DANIEL & JOHN to be divided by a line running from the mouth of Crummet's Run. An Apr 22, 1848 deed by his son JOHN clearly described his and DANIEL's portions of his father's 100, 125 and 40 acres tracts. In a deed dated Dec 11, 1852, DANIEL sold his 47 acres of the inherited land on S Fork. The tract lines match the tract lines of the northern portion of the 1794 grant exactly.
2- The JOHN in the 1855 will left all his land to son PHILIP. Land records show that some of the land PHILIP inherited came originally from JOHN's father MICHAEL. See text on #879 PHILIP for details of land records supporting this assumption.
3- The 1838 Pendleton land book has land as owned by JOHN's " ESTATE." The children mentioned in the will attested in 1837 were DANL, JOHN, HENRY (who had 2 wifes by 1852), JOSEPH, MARK, MARY, CATHERINE, BARBARA, DAVID & GEORGE.
4- A male 70-80 was living with DAN SIMMONS in 1830. JOHN left his son DAN half his land. Walter Eye shows additional children: SIMON FREDERICK, WM, PHILIP & THOMAS. They are not mentioned in the will. SIMON FREDERICK is shown as son of # 2780 LEONARD SIMMONS on a deed of Mar 4, 1835. WILLIAM is the son of # 2764 HENRY SIMMONS per various land records. THOMAS is identical to # 874. See texts on #875 FRED, # 877 WM & # 874 THOS for details.
