LUELLA VOORHEES
Luella Barton Voorhees Behling, wife of Fred C. Behling of Camillus, passed away at Crouse Irving hospital April 1, 1935 at 6:40 a. m., after a short illness.
A daughter of Mahlon and Hattie Johnson Voorhees, Mrs. Behling was born in Baldwinsville and lived there for 21 years. On Sept. 25, 1899 she was married to Fred C. Behling and came to Camillus shortly after. For 20 years she has been affiliatedwith Camillus Baptist Church and for four years was president of the Philathea class.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, April 4 at Camillus Baptist Church with Rev. E. J. Burston officiating. Rev. Burston spoke from the topic "The Worth of Life."Harlan Gates sang two solos, "Moment By Moment" and "The End of the Road." A profusion of flowers banked the casket showing the esteem in which Mrs. Behling was
held in the community. Burial was in the family plot at Warners.
Mrs. Behling worked among her chickens up to the hour she was taken to the hospital. Her life was a busy one and she was devoted to her family to such an extent that she worked continually for the good of all. She loved her home and enjoyed nothing better than working among her chickens and in the garden.
Surviving arc her husband; one son, Frederick, Jr.; two grandchildren, Fred, Jr., and Edna; one sister, Mrs Irving Brand of Syracuse and one brother, Glaney Voorhees of Baldwinsville. Bearers were Harry Little, William Davis, Amos Yearton, Ray Embury, Wilber Lalone and Charles Peterson.
