1. Biography Johann Wilhelm Schlusing was born on June 12, 1808 in the Village ofZeven, Kingdom of Hanover, Germany. His parents were Jacob Wilhelm Schlusing and Anna Maria Muller. Johann was known as "William" and sometimes "Willie". He marriedMargarethe Magdalene Warnecken on June 7, 1836 in the Village ofZeven, Kingdom of Hanover, Germany. They had seven children: Sophia Schlusing was born in 1836 in the Village of Zeven, Kingdom ofHanover, Germany. She was nine years old when her parents brought herto the United States. She married Unknown Knoop, who was the cousin ofElla Jane Kahrs. Henry Wilhelm Schlusingwas born on December 31, 1838 in the Village ofZeven, Kingdom of Hanover, Germany. He was six years old when hisparents brought him to the United States. He served in the civil war.And married Catherine M. Fitschen in 1863. Jacob Frederick Schlusing was born in 1841 in the Village of Zeven,Kingdom of Hanover, Germany. He was about four years old when hisparents brought him to the United States. He and his mother somehowfell into the water when they were departing the ship "The ElizaThornton", that arrived in October, 1845 from Bremen, Germany. Anunknown person jumped into the water and grabbed his mother(Margarethe) by her long hair and saved her life. But Jacob Frederickdrowned before anyone could help him. The ship docked in New Orleans,Louisana and I would presume that he is buried somewhere in NewOrleans. However I do not have any information concerning this at thistime. Johann Frederick Schlusing was born on September 5, 1843 in theVillage of Zeven, Kingdom of Hanover, Germany. He was almost two yearsold when his parents brought him to the United States. He served inthe Union Army in the Civil War. He married Catherine Muller (possiblyspelled Mueller or Miller). He died in 1930. Note: Between the time that Johann Wilhelm and Anna Maria arrived inNew Orleans, Louisiana in October, 1845 and in late 1845 or 1846 theytook their family and moved to Morgan County, Missouri to live. It isnot known what their mode of travel was to get there. Mary Schlusing was born in 1846 in Morgan County, Missouri. Shemarried John Bernard Timkan. Possibly spelled Teepen, Timkan orTipan?. He may have worked for Timkan Roller Bearings Company inKansas. Margaret (Margarethe) Schlusing was born on April 1, 1848 in MorganCounty, Missouri. She married Peter Kahrs in 1868. She died March 6,1929 and is buried in the Smithton Cemetery in Missouri. William Jacob Schlusing was born on May 10, 1851 in Morgan County,Missouri. He married Dollie Unknown. He died on February 27, 1907 in atrain wreck at Mexico, Missouri. Dollie was born on September 24, 1859and Died September 30, 1920. They had three children: Albert, William(called Willie) and Delbert. Johan Wilhelm died in 1874 and is buried in the Lake Creek Cemetery,near Clifton City, Pettis County, Missouri.
