Obituary George G. Tiedeman was born Oct. 19, 1869, the son of Jacob Tiedeman,councilman, farmer and factory worker in Hamburg, Germany. In 1874, he came to the United States with his father and mother, AnnaCatherine Peters, residing in Red Wing from 1877 to 1881. They thenmoved to Mower County, Minn., and engaged in farming. He was a memberof St. John's Church. On July 26, 1899, he was united in marriage with Edith Bertha NeubauerTiedeman, who was born in Berlin, Germany, on Feb 26, 1875, and cameto the U. S. at the age of 19. She died Jan. 11, 1935. Mr. Tiedeman died at 3 p.m. Dec 22, 1957, at Taylors Falls, Minn.Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at St. John'sLutheran Church, Elkton, The Rev. P. E. Petrick officiating.Internment was in St. John's Cemetery with the Worlein Funeral Home incharge of arrangements. Mr. Tiedeman is survived by eight children, Mattie, Moline, Ill., wifeof Clarence Shoemaker, employed by the John Deere Manufacturing Co.;Henry of Mt. Iron, Minn.,representing the Economy Publishing Co. inMinnesota and Wisconsin; Herman, Normal, Ill. a professor at theUniversity of Illinois; Elmer, St. Paul, a teacher in the St. PaulPublic Schools; Sadie, assisting a family in a home in Davenport Iowa,Gladys, North Freedom, Wis., wife of Edward Kaldenberg, stock dealer;William, Richfield, Minn., teacher in the Richfield Public Schools;Victor, Milan, Idaho, teacher in the public schools. One daughter,Lydia, died in 1945. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He waspreceded in death by the following sisters and brothers: AnnaSpreckels, deceased at age 93; Mattie, passed away at age 9; Gretchen,deceased in 1917; Adelheide (Mrs. Herman Moje), deceased in 1936; Johndeceased in 1908; Fred (twin brother), deceased in 1932. Out-of-town persons attending the funeral came from Mt. Iron, Minn.Normal, Ill., St. Paul, Moline, Ill., Davenport, Iowa, North Freedom,Wis., Richfield, Minn., Columbia, S.D., Danube, Minn.
