Prominent Farmer In Town of Wilson Dies This Morning
Jacob Etzkorn, prominent farmer of the town of Wilson, died at his residence this morning after a 10-week illness. He was 81 years old.
Mr. Etzkorn was born in Coblenz, Germany (richtig wäre: Dorweiler), on Oct. 30, 1861, son of Frank and Margaret Etzkorn (richtig wäre Jacob und Margaret). He came to this country with his parents (richtig: ohne seine Eltern) in 1880. He was united in marriage to Miss Sophia Braun in St. George's church, Town Wilson, on Jan. 19, 1892, by Rev. Dieringer. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year. For 10 years after their marriage the couple operated a tavern at Six Corners and for the past 41 years they lived on their farm onehalf mile east of Six Corners on County Trunk V.
Mr. Etzkorn was a member of St. George's church for over 50 years and affiliated with the Holy Name society of that church. Survivors are the widow, four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Haen and Mrs. Jacob Straus of this city, Mrs Carl Rammer of Town Wilson, and Mrs. Ray Trautschold of Kohler; three sons, Anton of De-Grey, s. Dak.; Nick of Kohler, and Alfred at home; 24 gand-children, five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Albert, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:15 o'clock at the Gerend Funeral home and at 10 o'clock at St. George's church, Town Wilson, the Rev. Charles Neu officiating, with burial in Holy Cross cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home fram Saturday afternoon on.
