John A. Meldgaard RACINE - John A. Meldgaard, 68, was called home to be with his Lordand Savior on Sunday, March 28, 2010. He passed away peacefully at hisresidence surrounded by his family. He was born in Racine on March 4,1942, the son of Jerome and Mae (nee: Lembke) Meldgaard. On October 4,1969, he was united in marriage to Shirley Anderson at FranksvilleUnited Methodist Church. John was a Boy Scout and attended the ScoutWorld Jubilee in Sutton Park, Warwickshire, England in 1957. Hegraduated from Washington Park High School in 1960. In 1964, he workedat the New York World's Fair at the Golden Rondelle. John attended theUniversity of Florida - Gainesville and was a co-op student with NASAon the Saturn C-1 flight vehicle in Huntsville, Ala. andAllis-Chalmers. He received his Engineering Degree from MarquetteUniversity in 1967. John was employed by S.C. Johnson for 38 years,retiring in August of 2007. John's true love was Jesus Christ. Hestudied God's word diligently and his faith in action was readilyapparent to others. His quiet radiance and Godly, humble, caringnature drew others to him like a magnet as he shared his faith. Thoseof us that knew John, were privileged and blessed to have known him.John's deepest and earnest desire was to honor and glorify God. Johnloved his family and is survived by Shirley, his wife of 40 years;daughter, Sara (Scott) McDonald; son, Mark (Rebecca Moe) Meldgaard;and son, Eric Meldgaard; four grandchildren, Clara and AnneliseMcDonald and Hannah and Aiden Meldgaard; sister, Gail (Lee) Pullen;mother-in- law, Anna Anderson; sister-in-law, Carol (Roger) Exner;brother- in-law, Gary (Kathy) Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, CarlAnderson Jr.; aunt and uncle, Janet and Willard Lembke; aunt anduncle, Ruth and Lloyd Doenier; and cousin, Karen Brown. Please jointhe family in celebrating John's life with Christ on Thursday, April1, 2010, at Grace Church, 3626 Highway 31. Visitation will be onThursday from 9 until 11:30 a.m. with Funeral service at 11:30 a.m.with Pastor Jerry Worsham officiating. Graveside service to follow atWest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Grace Church, Salvation Army, orSamaritan's Purse have been suggested.
