My family had always refered to this person as Stephen and after yearsof searching for Stephen. We found a reference by his wife to him as Charles. This connected a long held belief that this Stephen was actually Charles Son of Charles that was married to Ann McClain. Below are earlier musings. The placement of a son Stephen is an attempt on my part to link tothis Philadelphia family. I am unable to locate Stephen's father. Thelogic on this father is as follows: Stephen's family moved to the Vermont, Illinois area. This Jacob's son had children whom moved to the same area. Also Stephen's wife Fanny Mershon came from the bucks area which is near this Colladay family. So there are no facts but I have eliminated the other Philly families through timelines, family biblesand cenus records. I do not actually know who Stephen's father is. I have no record ofhis birth, or death, all info about him is through his wife FannyMershon. They were probably married in PA. This PA colladay I have him linkedto is one that fit on a timeline that I do not have complete lists of children. No Stephen Colladay appears in any US Census before his supposedx death. His grandson, James Franklin Colladay never seemedto have met him and didn't know his father very well either.
