The handwriting of the registrar for the year 1890 is particularlydifficult to decipher. Accordingly this list has been compared withthe rolls for 1889 and 1891 to transcribe as accurately as possiblethe names and vital statistics for the men. Unfortunately, someindecipherable names appear only in 1890 and thus cannot be emended.These names are indicated by (?) directly after the name. This listing presents the military enrollment lists for the Morelandsand Hatboro for the year 1890. It is a continuation of a project begunin Volume LIII (1993) and continued in Volume LIV (1994) of the OldYork Road Historical Society Bulletin. It represents an attempt tofill the gap left by the destruction by fire in 1921 of the FederalCensus for 1890. The rolls present a census of men between the ages oftwenty-one and forty-five eligible for military service if the needfor them were to arise. The rolls are preserved in the archives of theMontgomery Historical Society in Norristown. Myers Beecher, solicitor, 49, born Oct 1850, was married for 19 yearsto wife Anna R., 40, May 1860. She had birthed 5 children, 4 stillalive: Alice L., 17, Jun 1882; Carrie H., 15, Sep 1884; Bertha A., 11,Aug 1888; and Irvin S., 8, Jul 1891. Everyone and their parents wereborn in PA. Myers was renting the home at 248 N. Charlotte St. Myers E. Beecher, 59, was married for 29 years to wife Annie, 59. Shehad birthed 6 children, 5 alive in 1910. With them were three: Bertha,20; Irvin, 18; and Anna, 7. Everyone and their parents were born inPA. They were living at 248 Charlotte St in Pottstown.
