Salem OR Statesman Journal - 9-10-2003: DALLAS - Margaret Friesen, aresident of Dallas, Ore. died on Tuesday, September 2nd in Dallas. She was born August 21, 1908 on a farm near Guernsey, Saskatchewan,Canada, the ninth of eleven children of Heinrich and Elizabeth BarkmanRatzlaff. In 1927 Margaret married Daniel K. Friesen in Dalmeny,Saskatchewan, Canada. They moved to the Dallas-Salem area in 1928. Herchildren remember her as a wonderful cook, a highly skilledseamstress, and a caring and devoted mother. As a seamstress sheoutfitted nearly every one of her children and grandchildren. Her workwas also on display throughout the area by many high schoolcheerleader squads who wore her outfits. In 1986 after nearly sixtyyears of marriage her husband Daniel passed away. She was a longtimemember of the Dallas Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Herhusband, Dan, faithfully taught the adult Bible class at the churchfor over 25 years. She recently celebrated her 95th birthday in Dallaswith many of her family and friends present. She is survived by her sons, Loyal of Camp Verde, Tex., Raymond ofNorth Las Vegas, Nev. and Alton of Salem, Ore.; daughters, BonnieEwert of McMinnville, Ore., Joyce Seng of Vancouver, Wash, ValdeanKouretas of Saratoga, Calif., Patricia Bybee of Portland, Ore., DianneLaBarbera of Modesto, Calif. and Marlene Miller of Fountain Valley,Calif.; along with thirty-one grandchildren, fifty-twogreat-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, September 14th at 3:00 p.m.at the Dallas Alliance Church. Private interment will be at Salt CreekCemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Black Lake Bible Campin care of Dallas Mortuary Chapel, Dallas, Oregon who is in charge ofarrangements.
