Served several years as a lineman on the Northern Central Railro ad,in the mercantile business for 14 years, later served as a c lerk fora mercantile house for a period of 20 years. After thi s he went toBaltimore, MD, where he was employed as a bookkeepe r for a wholesaletobacco firm, also manufactured cigars, bein g with this firm for 11years. After this he entered the Firs t National Bank later known asthe Glen Rock Trust Co. as assist ant cashier and later as bookkeeperof this institution. Fo r a long period he served as a Director andVice-President of th is same banking house. He was Notary Public fortwo terms, shco ol director and other minor offices in the Boro ofGlen rock, P A where he lived most of his time. Dr. E.S.Shumaker met him when he was 86 and said that he was a t all,gray haired man with a long gray beard and in very feeble h ealth.
