Epp, minister of the Mennonite Brethren Church, was born atEvanecke, South Russia, 19 November 1871, the seventh of the tenchildren of Peter and Katharina (Klassen) Epp. In 1876 the familyimmigrated to America, settling on a farm near Hillsboro, Kansas,where Abraham grew up and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church in1891. In 1893 he took a homestead on the Cherokee Strip, southeast ofwhat is today Fairview, Oklahoma, and established his home, marryingCarolina Bekker on 27 December 1894. They had a family of threechildren. He was very active in the South Fairview Mennonite BrethrenChurch from its very beginning, serving as Sunday-schoolsuperintendent and deacon for many years. In 1925 the congregationelected him to the ministry, and for some time he was its pastor. In1928 he retired and moved to Fairview. Abraham Epp was an active worker in the Southern District Conference(Mennonite Brethren) and served as its treasurer in 1924-39. He diedat his home in Fairview on 8 October 1941, and was buried in the SouthFairview Mennonite Brethren Cemetery.
